In response to MikeK. I understand that installing juice brakes on the car is not restoring the brakes to their original state. Everything else on the car is original to the extent possible, down to all of the original bolts. This car was purchased by my great grandfather new off the assembly line and I want to safely enjoy the car with my family and I feel that the old brakes are not safe with modern day traffic and speeds. Why build something that I feel I need to trailer around to shows. Henry Ford made his cars to be driven not to be show cars and that is what I plan on doing with this car.

I push my foot on my mechanical brakes the car slows, I press more and the car slows faster, still more the tires will skid. Please tell me the difference between my brakes and juice brakes?

You're brain washed into thinking you need juice brakes to stop, an alt for reliability, halogen bulbs to see, and all the other stuff that HAS to be changed so you drive your car.

RyanB,

I have mechanical brakes and enjoy driving myself and/or family members around all the time.

Set the brakes up correctly and they will perform just fine and you will feel as safe as you need to be.

Juice brakes have a delay before engagement that mechanicals do not. That is an inherent property of the valving and porting in the master cylinder and pressure expansion of all components downstream. The mechanicals in my 160B will leave skid marks both on the pavement and in your pants if you stomp on the brake. Your car, if you do not want to restore it properly, modify it any way you want.

and his brakes when adjusted properly will stop on a DIME and skid and lick and you are as safe as "juice" brakes" your somehow being convinced that your "newer" brakes are better... I drove 8500 miles last year and at an average speed of 56 miles an hour and never ever ever wished i had your modern brakes.. For what?????you will get that response from the majority here on Ford Barn....... and yes they were made to be driven and I drive it every day the way it was built with now modern amenities but...YOUR car do it YOUR way!!

Thanks mike k. these purest should start there own site. we post to help fellow A owners with safety, and a way to enjoy there cars even more. I have no problem with a high point car and enjoy looking at them . to each his own but do not trash me i would not do that to you.

I thought this was the original site. :)

Modes can be found on several other sites.

Hydaulic brakes scare me more than mechanical barakes. I've had lines pop and wheel cylinders leak, and when the car sets for a year, you'd better plan on going through the brakes again, or you may be surprized when you step on the pedal.

As Tom said this is that site as declared by the owner the first day and as late as 1/31/13 "The Ford Barn is about early Ford restoration."by saying we should give up what we already have is trashing us.

YOU NEED TO GO!

I was first confused by this post. I could not see at all how I had offended you, as I had not replied directly to any post you have made in this thread.

THEN IT DAWNED ON ME. Yea, I'm slow, but now I GOT IT.

You blatantly use this forum as a base to PERSONALLY FRONT EVERYTHING YOU SELL. Looking back through all your posts reveals quite a pattern of ABUSING THE PURPOSE OF THIS FORUM for personal advertising.

Just look at post #6 in this thread. Straight self-promotion.

Look at this recent thread about oil change. LINK I posted a suggestion of time rather than mileage with a picture of a device that tracks run time. You followed up with a PURE SELF PROMOTION of what you sell.

NOW THAT'S TRASHY

This is a site for stock restorations fellas. We are purists. Case closed.
