MARC vs MAFCA

I think that there is a slight difference in the emphasis in the clubs. If I was interested in fine point show original car, I would be in the MARC club. I think if I was interested in more touring where you might have more modifications, such as OD, Air Cond. Juice brakes, etc. I would choose MAFCA. Personally, I think both are well worth the money just for the magazines. MARC for fine point, MAFCA for touring car interests if I had to choose only one. Also post # 9 could be a consideration if you want to attend the national meets closest to you.

http://model-a-ford.org/ is the site and I do not get any "under construction" pages.

Just did a low level flyby of most of the pages and they are just filled...

Find the closest local club to you and join the national they are associated with for a beginning. Then you can decide if you want the to join the other as well.

I belong to MARC and AACA Reason:
MARC has Club in my area. (Actually belong to 2 Region Clubs)
AACA only because we go to Hershey to sell stuff.

At one time MARC may have been more Fine Point Oriented however that is pretty much up to each Regional Club. Anymore these local clubs are losing members to age. Our local Region is working much harder to bring new members into the fold.
Heap or Trailer Queen all are welcome.
I am in our West KY Region and the Central Region. Central is very active with two day tours and events.

So you seem to have found a couple of technical pages that haven't been flushed in yet. I just spent 30 minutes browsing and I'm plenty impressed at the content that IS there and would guess that the 'under construction' pages are a small percentage of the total.

I think the change has been pretty awesome.

As for the forums with 11 discussions..... I wonder how many even know that there is a forum on MARC? It's brand new. Give it time. As people find it it will get used.

I think the best way to solve this, if you live in the Eastern part of the U.S., is to move to SoCal and then join MAFCA problem solved.

Now give this serious thought next January when you're butt deep in snow and sub zero weather and the guys in Orange County are out driving their Model A's. They're not fretting about which National to join they're out having fun:eek:

Thanks for all of the suggestions. They've really helped me decide which one to join. :) My local Model A Club is affiliated with both MARC and MAFCA. I know with complete certainty that I will never attend a national meet on the west coast of the US. It's just too dang far even with the A on a flatbed trailer. There's a much better chance that I'll be able to attend a meet on the east coast. Also, my Town Sedan is more along the lines of a fine point original car with a few safety modifications. Thanks for pointing this out, sphanna.

I just joined MARC from their web site! I was directed to PayPal and paid the dues from July-December. I'm thankful they prorate the membership fee when joining during the calendar year.

What kinda wimpy Illinoisan are you??? :D
I put just under 22K miles on my A from last March to this March. Ya can't do that without driving in our wonderful winter wonderland!
There is nothing more incredible than a drive in country after a snow.

Why not join both MARC and MAFCA. Both are worth the money. You won't regret belonging to both. The magazines in each of the two clubs are superior. I have been a member of both clubs for over forty years and have never regretted it. You can always join both for a year and see which one would be best for you. You can form your own opinion, which may be different from other peoples' points of view.
