manifold washers

I just installed an Aries stainless steel lower water pipe, with the correct bend, on my car that I'm taking to Vancouver. Will the judges be checking for repo parts with a maganet? It looks good but it's nonmagnetic.

Glenn, There is nothing written into the Standards that prevent a judge from using a magnet. I haven't seen judges use magnets while judging cooling in the past. I know that doesn't provide much of an actual answer, but that's all I can offer.

Like Dave, I've never seen a magnet used. However I lost points on my original because they didn't think it looked right!

BTW, what does this have to do with manifold washers? :-)

I think the judges will be looking for the seam in the water pipe as I am not aware any repro has the seam and the originals do.

Vince brought up a good point. I just looked at Bratton's catalog and if yours is like what Bratton describes it is actually incorrect unless you are talking about a 1928 car. Only SOME of the '28-29 pipes were mandrel bent to prohibit collapsing of the pipe throughout the bend. Additionally the current standards require the incorrect pipe on '29 models with a long generator.
