Manifold Identication

I recently aquired another hoard of V8 Ford parts and ran across this set of exhaust maifolds. There are two but appear identicle and seem to be alike or for the same side! I'm hoping some one can identify as they apear to be for a flathead but I'm baffled as to their use! Hope someone knows what they were for! Thanks Fordbarners! flatdoctor@frontier.com

Unless I'm looking at the pics wrong, those downpipes are UPpipes!
They go upwards!
Can't imagine what they are for, but not normal everyday car or truck stuff.

Mart's right. Up. When I bought my 39, it had a manifold like those on one side. I always assumed it was part of a hot air heating system.
