I have one of the waffle manifolds that has been sand blasted and painted with cast blast. I don't have the scoop cover but I think that they are available. I would sell the manifold if anybody needs one. It doesn't usually get cold enough here to use a manifold heater, if it does I use the modern vehicle. I once had an Otwell health heater manifold on a tudor and it made it too hot to ride in. Manifold heaters are hell on condensers, I avoid them .

The kind that uses a waffle type manifold works great.... But be sure to use a shutoff type of unit on your fire wall to control the heat supply..... usual maybe open about 1/2 or 1/3 open is all you need......

That is a generic door for many types of heaters. Rather than messing with a one size fits all, which they don't :(, I would prefer to have the correct part. The hunt goes on.

Figured you had probably seen this - but rather than '*** u me', thought I'd point it out.

I don't know for sure, but craigslist may have a cast cover for the manifold Purdy has available. It doesn't look like the 'stock manifold' style. Doesn't appear to be alum. But, again I'm no expert in these.

I just hope I can find an original AutoLite if and when I find the closed car that needs one - right after I find that vat of money...

I was an "EMOTIONAL WRECK" On Minerva, I destroyed 2 old hole saws tryin' to cut through "FORD TUFF" firewall. Spent $17.77 for a De-Walt hole saw and FINALLY! opened a porthole. Almost cried! Later, I DID cry later when Gregg threw away the cut-out piece+(&%$&%^
I'll FREEZE my BUTT off before I cut Vermin's firewall!! When asked about regrets in my last 2 minutes afore' my lights go out, I'll ask MINERVA for forgiveness!! (CRAP! now I got the Dog:cool: cryin'!) Bill W.

Pipe it in to come up thru the wooden floorboard. That's a bunch easier to replace when and if!

This is a cast iron waffle style Goerlich's model C heater made in Toledo, Ohio. The second picture is an Autolite heater on a nicely detailed engine. The Autolite, if I am reading the casting correctly, was made in Fostoria, Ohio ? which is about 40 miles south of Toledo. Interesting, must be cold in northwest Ohio.

Yes apparently. Above the vacuum port is a boss where I would have thought the original port would have been. Careful grinding reveled a plugged port in the boss. Possibly a modification for electric wipers. The line at the lower left of the boss is a hack saw cut as if a bolt was used to plug the port and then cut off flush with the boss. Considering the lack of quality in the intake casting, I assumed it to be an aftermarket item like the exhaust manifold. Close inspection of the castings in post #21 look exactly like my pair only cleaner. Refer to the area of the exhaust that wraps around the back intake port. My theory (guess) is a service center employee did a quick fix during the installation process.

Here are are few pictures of a genuine Autolite heater door. It fits into the back of the heater cover perfectly and has two doors. The outer door is manual operated and can be set at any angle. The inner damper door is spring loaded and is operated remotely using a choke style cable. I picked is up at Rhinebeck two years ago and will be installing it this spring to keep my "better half" warm on those cool morning rides.

This heater manifold was on my 29 Tudor when I bought it. Since I am in Florida the frist thing was to remove it. When installed it covers the distributor set screw but I imagine it will provide a lot of heat sinc it is all a solid casting. If you are interested make me an offer I'd be glad to sell it if you can use it.
Thanks, Al
