Well it happend to me today, the dreaded bendix bolt dropping into the flywheel housing. I took my own advice and did a search of this site before asking the question and came up with some great ideas, but alas none of them worked. I was feeling depressed when I remembered that I had one of those high power necklaces that are for arthritis hanging around my neck. I took the necklace off and taped it to a long piece of thin electric fence wire and snaked it down the starter hole and up came the washer on the first pass and then the bolt on the third pass. I feel lucky enough that I may have to buy a lottery ticket tomrrow. I'm not sold on the tab washers for locking. I wonder why you couldn't use blue locktight on the threads as well as the washer. Thoughts.
