This started with a article in Vintage Speed Magazine and another post on the model A forum. http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1787
I have installed three of these in the last few weeks and wow !!! What a difference.

Very little changes are needed for the T conversion, shaft must be cut off and advance rates changed and curved on distributor machine etc. Use the old Bosch lower end stuff and your off. I have this in two of my T's and they run perfect.
I use the TW timing tool to set the ENGINE TIMING at exactly 15 degrees btdc and curve for 20 degrees at 2000 rpm.

Tony Wiltshire's tool was designed to be used to set the initial timing at 15 degrees ATDC with the spark lever fully retarded on the original Model T four coil ignition system so the car will start and run correctly on the internal flywheel magneto.
The TW tool has a graduated scale and could be used to location piston position just BEFORE TDC for use with a distributor.

A great tool for sure! Amazing how many Model Ts run very well without actually knowing ( or caring :) )where the engine timing is.
Got any idea what the spark duration is on a T with coils ? Got to be a ton compared to todays cycle etc......

Ron,

Never did thank you for the articles , they helped a bunch understanding the spark duration etc of a non distributor Model T for sure.
I now have the new mallory units on both my Ts and like the ease of set up and the modern reliablilty.
I do however have great respect for the orginal timer/coil per cyclinder set up. Lots of my T friends use these every tour with great results....
