Mallory duel point

Can anyone tell me what is the advance degree on the distributor. the unit is a Mallory Model 7C,type 275AX , points at .020,dwell 26 ( this what is on the iD tag ) motor is a 1950 8BA. and it is mechanical advance. 40 over,Edmuns heads dual edmuns intake with dual 97's .not sure how to check it if it is off ( may have to Bubas to have it checked) thanks in advance Ralph

Use an adjustable timing light. Does this distributor have a vacuum component in the advance. If not maybe you could trade it for a SBC converted for your engine. Ther Edmonds heads are a very desirable, they are aprox 8:1 on a 239 engine and the spark plug is relocated so you can run a power tip plug. With the right ignition this will give great economy as well as an increase in torque thought he entire RPM range.

paints.
Send it to Jim Bubba Lindner. The curve is most likely not correct. The $$$$
will be well spent because a BIG question mark will be removed from your tuning
process.
I surely do agree with Ron, the Mallory may look more vintage and all that,
but the sbc converted dist with the vac can will out perform it. The ease of tuning
the sbc convert is its secret weapon, plus points and condenser cap and rotor are
are on the shelf at NAPA.

My old Mallory service information sheets shows this # 275A left the factory set at :

Advance starts at 400 rpm
9 degrees at 1800 rpm
22 degrees at 3600
with the max adjusted at 22 degrees......

Just happened to have the booklet in my hand this morning.......:)

Bubba, thanks for the info . should I have you chek it out I like the old school look but if it is not a dependable setup and the converted chevy unit will be better it would be better to make the change . on the previous thread it states the conversion has a vacumm canister . with dual 97's there is no vac port like the 94's,do have an fitting on the intake , would that be ok or does it have to come off carb vac ? thanks again Ralph

Be glad to check it over etc.....probably a very workable unit.
A Mallory cleaned and adjusted is pretty hard to beat.
For approx $100 you can have a like new unit with the "look"
