I HAVE A MALLORY RED SERIES 23 DISTRIBUTOR IN MY MODEL A (B) engine.. The distributor runs very hot. I have added a heat shield on the bottom of the housing, but still gets very hot. The bearing is beginning to seize I think ,as the shaft does not turn freely. Mallory does not provide any way to lube the bearing. Tomorrow I am going to take the distributor apart and replace the bearing.. At this point I dont know if the bearing is a bushing, needle bearing, or what. I have only 15000 miles on this distributor.

Has any one experienced this problem.?
.
Has anyone devised a way to add lubricant?

If so, what lubricant will withstand the heat in this distributor location?

Any suggestions?
