Making a tailgate for my 19

I started to make a tailgate for my 19. I'm gonna beat the crap out of the wood before and after I paint it black to give it that aged and beat look. I took some flat stock and heated it and curled it around some 3/8 round stock I'm gonna heat and mushroom the round stock over the flatstock secure the hinges to the original hinge bracket. I ordered the latch kit from snyders today and I need to finish the center brace tomorrow. I'm happy with my first attempt at anything like this. Let me know what you guys think
