MAFFI Ford drawing search

I wanted to get a copy of the factory drawing for the A 3131 B left side spindle arm (2 ball side). looking on the MAFFI site I found 84 entries of drawings for that part, spanning from 1927 to 1930. How does a person know which one to order? I need a machining drawing with dimensions to check my spindle arm,and would like to get the correct drawing. Can anyone tell me of their experiences using the MAFFI service for part drawings? Thank You, Terry:confused:

You need to narrow it down to the drawing closest to the date before your car was built. That wil give you the best shot at a drawing that represents your specific car.

On #2 above, that's true unless the front end components were changed to earlier or later ones for what ever reason. What needs to be ck'd on your 2-ball spindle arm??

1931 flamingo, I have 3 of the two ball spindle arms and all 3 are different with regard to the angle of the ball that the drag link attaches to. I would like to check them to find out if any of them are correct. All 3 may be bent, but how do you know?. The reason that I asked about which drawing to ask for is that it is possible that there may be a drawing that is specific to the forging of the part. That drawing would not show finish machining dimensions for final inspection. Some of the drawing dates listed have three drawings listed for the same date. Thanks for asking, Terry

The Restoration Guidelines & Judging Standards describe four types of left and right spindle arms. I recommend you look at them to determine which one is "correct" for your car if you want to go back to the original.

MAFFI does not provide to you the part drawings...you must go through the Benson Ford Research Center (Ford Archives) to obtain part drawings for the part you need.

However what MAFFI does provide is the information for which is at the Ford Archives

They are $20.00 per drawing.

See the STICKY above for their information.

Exactly...I am in the same ball park as you.

I checked all of mine a few weeks ago and found considerable differences as to just where they should actually be. And I still do not know which one is closest to being correct!

Hmmmm...there must be some "easy" type of template one could design to check for the right angle.

329s, When I get the correct information I plan on making an inspection template or fixture. I'll let you know when that happens. First I need to look into the judging standards as ajanke suggested. Thanks to all for the replys to my question, Terry

Wasn’t a complete set of drawings and engineering records on microfilm donated to MAFFI a while back? Where are those drawings?
