MAFCA membership?

I applied a month ago. I received an email receipt for my $50.00 but no member number or secret decoder ring or anything else. Is this normal or should I contact somebody?

same here. I called and found out I was treated as a renewal, when they were made aware they fixed everything and I "got the ring"

Similar experience. Joined a few years ago. Let it lapse but renewed and got charged but no confirmation, no new Restorer issues, nothing. Assume it's mostly volunteer run but screw it, I don't have time to chase them down.

They are not volunteer, but overworked, especially now as we approach renewal season. But they are very responsive. Brenda is a sweetie. Email them at info@mafca.com and explain (politely, these are people, not machines) your issue, I'd bet a tall Coors that you'll get it resolved (or at least get a response) within a day or two.

Y'all are aware that if you belong to a MAFCA affliated Chapter and you are a new registrant to MAFCA, you get the first year free?

I am currently a Director for the Model A Ford Club of America. Please PM me your email or phone number so I can get in touch with you directly and resolve this. I also sent you a PM.

Hi,

I returned your PM with my contact info.

I belong (pay my dues) to MARC and MAFC....I belong to the Studebaker Drivers Club too. Within these various groups there are exactly that...VARIOUS GROUPS! I wish there was a way to combine the MARC and MAFC and the Studebaker Drivers with Avanti and Antique Studebaker Drivers.... But I don't volunteer for the hard work...I write my check, enjoy the magazines and so I should I shut up. Thanks to all you folks who make it work. I will continue to support both.....

Yup! I got a call just a few minutes ago. Now I have a membership #.

Evidently my letter is still flapping around in the US postal system. All I can say is that if it went thru the Columbia, SC service center, there's no telling where it might end up. Miz Diane ordered something from Michigan last month and it tracked to that Columbia service center in just one day...then it made the rounds of Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia, back to AR and two weeks later showed up on the porch. Not the first time that's happened either.

Thanks!

I'm still waiting on a bank statement, from a bank we use, that is 20 miles from our house. It's been two weeks and nobody knows where it went? They mailed the thing the middle of November but it ain't here......

I'd suspect something similar is going on with MAFCA membership mailings, etc.

We need the USPS I wish them well, but the service has gotten horrible.

I vouched for you.

I just read where 10 Roads one of USPS major mail hauling companies is shutting down operations January 30th. They have 2462 trucks and they have been hauling mail for 47 years. We think mail service is bad now, just wait. :(

In May I sent my registration USPS to the Northwest Regional Group for their meet in September. Drove three days to get there, and they had no record of me, apparently they never received it. Thankfully I had copies of what I had sent so they did an in-person registration for me. To this day the original check has not been cashed. And yes, I should have followed up when I didn't receive a confirmation, but things got away from me this summer. I've also stopped using USPS as my preferred shipper of parts.

Bottom line - follow up on anything you send USPS. Used to be that USPS was one of the most reliable operations in the world. Not so much anymore. but still maybe marginally better than FedEx.

USPS is easily taking 2x as long to get a letter from one place to another. Our mailing system is extremely slow. but, what do you expect when paing 76 cents to send a letter from NJ to Cali?
personally cant get it there any cheaper........

Got my letter!

It's only been a month...and a couple thousand miles from CA to SC, the USPS must still be using Model As! :D

A Rumor:

They still operate and use The Pony Express but they use Donkeys instead of horses!

But seriously could this problem have ANYTHING to do with all of the cuts in funding and experienced staff that is going on EVERYWHERE ?

After the first couple of entries on this thread, I received my "renewal" notice in the mail. Correction: separated by a couple of days I received TWO renewals.

On the arrival of the first one, I followed instructions. I tried to do an online renewal, which is possible, but encountered the "service charge" associated with using a credit card. (I don't do Paypal after a hacking two years ago.) A personal check sent in the mail takes more time, but avoids the service charge.

So instead I filled out the card, enclosed my personal check for the $50, and sent it in.

Before the arrival of the second renewal query, I received a nice THANK YOU FOR YOUR RENEWAL by Email.

So if your Email is a matter of their record, you will get a confirmation.

Maybe two?

i signed up after buying my model A.
wish i would've known i could signed up before buying so i could get some advice and help.
doesnt matter much, i was buying a model A anyway, i just thought you needed to own to join.
i dont appreciate that i need to both join nationally AND locally, but whatever.
i do find the magazine enjoyable to read, and the local group to be very helpful.
