Man...Did this thread get hijacked or what?

An issue as important as this (MAFCA Lawsuit) going down "Thunder Road" to the "Golden Arches"!

resident law experts- help me if I'm wrong but I believe it's legal to distill your own in the US, just illegal to sell without the paying the federal tax.

Pluck, the thread was not hijacked, it was bootlegged.....

Not a law expert but I do know you can make wine and beer for consumption, or to give as gifts, but no hard spirits are permitted.

If you search in snopes.com for "Mcdonalds hot coffee lawsuit", you will find a nice review of outrageous lawsuits.

http://www.snopes.com/legal/lawsuits.asp

It turns out that many of them, if not most that make the email outrage circuit, are fictional, although McDonalds apparently had, in fact, known for some time that it was serving dangerously hot coffee. So, while we are savoring our outrage over how nuts the world has become, we might want to redirect some attention to the practioners of outrage fakery. Their reward, apparently, is simply the pleasure of seeing the outrage generated by repetition of their silly stories.

Looking forward to warmer weather, so we can get back to playing with our cars.

You are correct.

Sec. 25.205
Production

(a) Any adult may produce beer, without payment of tax, for personal or family use and not for sale. An adult is any individual who is 18 years of age or older. If the locality in which the household is located requires a greater minimum age for the sale of beer to individuals, the adult shall be that age before commencing the production of beer. This exemption does not authorize the production of beer for use contrary to state or local law.

(b) The production of beer per household, without payment of tax, for personal or family use may not exceed:

(1) 200 gallons per calendar year if there are two or more adults residing in the household, or (2) 100 gallons per calendar year if there is only one adult residing in the household.
(c) Partnerships except as provided in Sec. 25.207, corporations or associations may not produce beer, without payment of tax, for personal or family use.

(Sec. 201, Pub. L. 85-859, 72 Stat. 1334, as amended (26 U.S.C. 5053))

It is not legal to distill alcohol in the US without a license.

The lawsuit is ongoing and has been for well over 1 year. Since MAFCA is part of the suit all discussions are limited to the Board and attornies. Once the case is settled a summary of the facts and outcome will be provided to the membership. Please understand it is not appropriate to discuss at this time.

Thanks - Alex

Swell photo. That was used on the cover of a textbook on statistical error analysis 20 years or so ago.

Thanks Alex, this is the way things should be done. Maybe now people can pick on another thread for awhile.
