Mac's shipping charges again

I'd say no one in government that is for sure. From "The Road to Serfdom" by Hayek, the definition of inefficiency is government. There is no feedback from what the buyer pays the seller as in free enterprise.

Sure there's feedback, and the USPS is competing. I won't go so far as to say it's winning, but it is surely competing and there is surely feedback. Haven't you seen USPS TV commercials? What do you call the comments in this thread?

USPS isn't perfect, but they haven't been caught on video chucking packages over fences, either.

AND THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY!!!

We ship a ton each and every day with fuel injectors and distributors ! We dont even try to ship anything cheap! However we do try to ship the product to the customer and track the package when ever possible! We pack each and every box as good as we possibly can, and insure each and every box . We use ups (the big brown truck) as they have proven to be very reliable. The post office could sometimes be cheaper but tracking is a problem and often we have to drive to the post office . I write a big check to the ups folks each week and just hope we dont loose money based on incorrect addresses, home or business delivery and other charges they hit us with as well.
Each box takes dollars for tape, boxes and packing supplys. ( 6 rolls of tape is $ 20 ) Not to count the employee that packs each and every carton.

SO from my view point lets all ***** and whine about something else for a change . Like bad parts , jap made stuff and chevrolets and oil leaks ....."Bubba"

+1 on this. Let's face it, the day of the $.25 loaf of bread, $5.00 Stromberg 97, and the $25 car are over.

When you are a one man shop, you may be able to afford using the USPO flatrate boxes (which aren't so cheap anymore- large sized box is approx. $15.00).

When you have a business to run and someone is going to come to you & pick-up your packages, I can't blame them for using USP even if it is a little more in shipping cost.

The real power is with this:

A) Could they do better on shipping, sure?

B) Can you shop somewhere else that offers a better price on shipping? Without question.

Just went to order a Flathead PCV kit from Jamco...they were about to charge $25 for shipping. It's a PCV valve and a freakin hose! I cancelled the order and made a set up myself for about $25. I'm glad I'm near the end of the restoration with my '48. Most of my aftermarket experiences have been a tale of woe and regret (from numerous vendors!).

last week i ordered some fittings from vintage air would have fit in a small flat rate box. called back within the hour and added a few small o rings to the order, they shipped 2 8x8x8 boxes ups $23.00 shipping . The parts cost less than $18.00!!!

I believe that when you are in a business the most important product you sell is service.
As kenct would say, nuff said.

... Who can we trust if not the post office?

Y'know, some of us actually work for the govt. To say "no one" can be trusted is like saying one can't trust any mechanics. There's good and there's bad, just like in any other part of our society. But when regulations such as hiring barely-qualified individuals and other inane policy guidelines are mandated, it's not really fair to trust "no one in the govt".

We must also remember shipping usually includes handling costs incurred by the sender and not the carrier. I'm not defending these high shipping costs, no more than I'd defend paying $4+ for a gallon of gas. It's just free enterprise.

i ship about 30 packages a year and only use ups. it cost more but the post office has lost packages on me twice and their tracking method is terrible. if the person buying balks at the ups price i would rather not sell it than risk the wrath when the part is lost.

How about the postal guys that have been caught with trunks full & the back seat of their car full of undelivered mail?

Really ?

6 small pieces that would be lost in a po small flat rate box for $5.35/ course they use ups brown in a gigantic box for $12.17 for a $35 order. No wonder i order very little from them its a rip off on shipping. End of rant. Ken ct.:mad:

stop ordering

Ken

Keep ordering and keep posting. Do not listen to Vintage. Mac surely monitors this forum and they need to know that their customers are not happy and that the word is being spread around the world on this forum. Complaining to Mac does little or no good because the poor person that answers the phone catches all of the complaints and the person can not change a single thing. Their management must make the changes and not the poor under paid and under feed telephone worker.

My point is they won't go out of business due to losing money the way UPS or FedEx can.

I have to hand it to Jon Rafetery head of the wholesale division,he took care of it for me and got the shipping wiped off kudos to him.BUT whats going to happen with the next order??? He cant keep fixing things it has to come from higher up to solve the problem. My thanks to Jon for his help. ken isidor ct.

Not sure how they do it but Summit is shipping me a set of long tube full flow headers for a Ford 302. $12.95

I have no problem with Macs shipping, at least We dont have sales tax "Yet" I cancel anything that is on back order since you will get the parts one at a time each with separate shipping.

So ... who paid for your shipping

So ....

Who paid for your shipping ....

The next order .......

Nothing is free - someone ends up paying the bill

Been to the gas pump lately ?

National average price of #2 diesel is $4.08 a gallon

The trucks that moved your order run on #2 diesel

Most Vendors make little or no mony and actually end up
losing money on shipping and handling of products

To single out a Vendor and complain about their
Shipping & Handling charges by posting a Thread
is Juvenile ....

If you don't like what they charge for Shipping & Handling

Don't Buy From Them .....

I avoid Mac's totally. They seem to want to make the shipping box as large as possible by putting in a magazine or some literature, even if you are buying a small item that could fit in a bubble package. Comes accross as some shipping scam.

I guess they ate it. Yea my truck uses $40 gas a week with very limited use. Use mostly the motor cycle. Yea i lose $ on some of my shipping too.At 73 i dont think im being juvinial about it. ken ct.

Um, wasn't that a Seinfeld episode? LOL

OK, there's bad apples in every bunch. There's no room for politics on this forum, so there's no reason to bash the postal service simply for the sake of bashing the government.

We all pay more for USPS services than the Post Office collects. We just pay it in taxes. Of course the Post Office can charge less when they operate at an annual loss. All of the other carriers opperate in the real world and if they were to opperate at a loss each year, they would be gone.
