is it me but looking thru e bay macs has parts posted seems shipping is little high
but i have been a snyders customer long time and not changing and macs is farther away

I noticed that to. I have no idea why they have absorbent shipping prices in their listings. Maybe that is the way they make their profits, assuming they sell anything. I have not been a fan of Mac's, due to a couple problems in the past. I doubt they are selling many parts on eBay, which maybe due to the high shipping costs. I get tired of wading through their numerous listing when I check eBay for parts. One way to cut down on them is checking the "used" box on the left side.

I was thinking about this today. I wonder how many people get turned off by the shipping shown for a $2.00 part that fits in a small envelop.

Their sales far exceed any other Model A vendor, they must be doing something right! A few knock them but thousands that remain somewhat silent love them and the best catalogue on the market. Wayne

Macs has been hammered on the various forums for their excessive shipping. Since Eklers bought them out, shipping and state taxes make them a non starter for me. Shipping and tax are almost 28% combined.

It's really too bad, I spent at least $2k per year with them.

Mac's shipping costs are based on a percentage cost of the parts you buy, not shipping weight. A $100 part that fits in an envelope could cost you $20 in shipping. Fortunately, I live close enough that I can pickup in person in Lockport. I only buy from them if absolutely.

on occasion they have slipped a small part in an envelope and sent it to me no charge. Nobody else ever did that for me !! Wayne

You should be intelligent enough to ascertain the shipping price when you order. If you still order whose fault us it but your ? Some people blame Macs win they should blame themselves. I have no sympathy for them. Wayne

I don't live that far from Mac's here in NY but just far enough to make driving there impractical whereby due to their shipping costs , I don't do business there unless I can't find the part elsewhere .
Mikes has been a good source for Model A parts so far .

Bert's for sure and I believe Bratton's also charge actual shipping. That is where I buy my model A parts. Mike's Afordable charges a packaging fee, which I don't care for. Packaging should be in the cost of the part(s) in my opinion.

Bert's...
If they don't have what I need I look elsewhere.
But Bert's is my first stop, over the course of a year I save a ton on shipping, wish I was closer so I could swing by and say "Hi"

Remember the thread about the original style terminals? Shipping was $6.75 and sold each.

Bratton's first, then Bert's for me. And what's with Mike's and their "packing charge" on top of shipping?

MAC's prices seem to be getting higher than other along with their already high shipping charges. Too bad, MAC's has, without at doubt, the best and easiest to use online catalog...:rolleyes:

OK this seems like a good thread to which I'll add my complaint - about all the venders!

No matter which vender's web site you visit you are in for a demonstration on some of the web's worst search engines!!

They are so bad they approach uselessness. Search for something like "window crank handle" and you will get 10 pages of unrelated results! The only way to use them is to have a catalog, find the item, and put in the part number shown in the catalog.

Come on Model A vendors. Hire an I.T. person, and improve your search engines so we can actually use them to find the parts we need!

OK, rant over. I feel better now. :D

Thank you Pgerhardt, you have expressed precisely my own vexing experience in looking for a 'Search' item. I have been sent down a 'blind alley' so many times that I no longer rely on their 'Search' tool; often just skipping over to another vendor in the hopes of a better result.
