Lz v-12

I agree the pulley setup needs sorting.
Much better with the belt coming straight down to the crank pulley, and drive the generator off another belt sheave, seen that done with old blower setups, a short belt that does just the blower to generator bit. Ignition is probably in the way though.
That aside, it looks 'kin beautiful don't it?
Martin.

I do know Edmonds made heads and a dual intake. Yes that blown V12 sure looks good, but doz it run??

Thanks for the info guys. Picking it up on Sunday. 12 hour drive but gotta take a chance. It is stuck but pretty much all there including carb, dizzy, generator and the Trans. Stored outside on a plastic pallet. Covered with a tarp and also the plastic tote.

That looks like quite a challenge Bill.
Here's a picture of my most recent v-12 project.

We ran across a guy at Hershey a few years ago that was making aluminum heads and dual intakes. I lost his card but I think he was somewhere in Penna. Found this pic on the net.

The late V12's had Hydrolic lifters and were so quite, you couldn't hear it running while looking at the fan moving.

those r real nice running engines.usually well worn out.they dont like to be lugged.use a later style linc.oil pump.starting in 49 i think.pcv valve is a good idea as well.dist.looks like v-8 but works different.it uses a dual coil and is actually 2 seperate ignitions in one.hope its good and u get it.hyd.lifter bodies r hard to find and very expensive.u can get the plungers but not the bodys.u can switch to solids used to b fairly common.

Hey Ron, Not to disagree but the V12 had hydraulic lifters starting in 38. Only two years did the V12 have mechanical lifters and that was in 36&37. I'm convinced the best way to go on any V12 rebuild is to convert to the mechanical Ford lifters.

See, we, I do learn sumpin everyday. I thought they started in 46. I've never worked on one so all I can do is dream.

The hydraulic lifters can be rebuilt. I have replaced the check ball and ground new seats for the balls and had good results. The 1938 - 39 lifters are different than the 1940 and up lifters. I have never seen the early lifters in person, only pictures. White truck and Packard used the same lifter. They come up on ebay from time to time. I believe that the profile on the cam lobe for the 1936 - 37 solid lifters was different than the later hydraulic lifter cam. Look out for badly worn lobes on cams from collapsed lifters
