Lubrication

On the big nut...just lift up your seat and get the Ford Monkey wrench out of the toolkit. It will grip the big nut sufficiently, it just barely engages but will do the job.
If your cardiac health is good, pop over to Snap-on and price a socket that will fit that thing!
Your engine came from the factory with hardened seats, and it has probably never heard of zinc. Any decent modern oil will be better than anything that could be found in 1939!

I was more concerned about bringing the old girl to Jiffy Lube. Some place with more old car savvy would be better. Not having the tools to remove the drain plug is a big clue. Fortunately no harm done. I have my own opinions about oil, and so does everyone else. Not going there :)

run 20w50 oil in the engine, I used Kendall Heavy Duty as it has some zinc in it, also seems to stay in my 41 3/4 ton. Synthetics will leak like no tomorrow, these old engines have rope seals and rather generous tolerances and will leak. Use sythetic if you want to settle the dust on your driveway. I do use sythetic in the grease fittings, don't forget the closed driveline fittings at the trans and at the first crossmember. We use the same in my buddy's 38 cabover. Glad to see another truck out for a drive!!
