Lube for a distributor?

I was going to send my 59A distributor to Bubbas for a rebuild, but the postage from New Zealand is ridiculous, so I'm doing it myself. Have a bunch of new parts (including NOS USA points :) ), vacuum brake, etc, but I'm wondering about lube.
What is the best grease to use on the cam?
Should I put any on the pivot posts for the points?
I've read in older material that .016" is the optimum points gap. Does modern thinking still agree with that?
Cheers, Marty.

Yes .016 is correct,i use a little white grease on cam, bushings pivot pins and part of shaft that is below the point plate. You almost have to have mininmum gap[axial] in shaft to the bottom side of the bridge that has the small bishing. Can be fixed with very thin brass shim washers or thin fiber one. Still has to turn freely with out binding up. If ir does the washer is too thick.Usually need around a .010 thick one or less some times. ken ct.
