Lowering 29 coupe seat

Hi Guys,

I tried a search for lowering the front seat springs but could not find my answer. The problem I am having is that I do not weigh enough (apparently) to compress the seat springs and I'm looking at the header panel. I have already modified the riser and pretty much have the rear of the seat bottom on the floor. My seats are brand new reproduction with LB seat covers. I'm wondering how I can modify the springs so they are compressed 2-4". I shrank down most of the coils with zip ties but feel like it isn't enough for me. Thanks in advance guys.

Kevin,
If you don't mind spending a little money, Snyder's will custom make springs to your specs. I had them make 3 seatback springs for my 28 coupe, 29 phaeton and 29 CCPU. They charged me $25 plus the cost of the spring. I had them make the springs 2" thinner since I am 6' 4" tall. It helps, but I still don't have enough room to drive comfortably. With a thinner seat cushion, the ride might be a litter rougher.

I have the same problem in my coupe. I thought this winter I will take some springs from another set I have and was going to rebuild the bottom with shorter springs from another back. I could use 2 or 3 inches as well.

easiest way today is to use the "dense Foam" and cut it to size.

understand you dont want to spend money, but maybe sell yours and get a new one?

I was sitting too high in my cabriolet using new springs, I tried pulling it down with nylon ties, but ended up making a new plywood base to cover my original seat frame and carving a piece of dense foam. Actually, it was several pieces glued together and shaped a bit. To sit lower as needed, I needed to drop the center back area of the base, but had to refill the back area so there would be no gap with the sear back.
