low idle --high idle

When I drive my car for the first 10-15 mins, the idle is perfect, after about 30 mins. of driving the idle goes higher and I have to pick up the accelerator with my foot to lower the idle so I can shift gears. I have a new spring on the linkage and I lubed it with oil. Thanks to all that help. Dennis/CT:)

Perhaps when the manifolds warm up things move a bit and an air leak develops. Thighten up the manifold nuts a bit and see if that helps.

If the idle speed comes back down when you lift the throttle linkage,, then there is a bind somewhere.. Have you tried making sure the throttle linkage and particularly the carburetor throttle shaft moves freely when hot and is not binding ?? What kind of carburetor are you using ?? Tillotsons have a reputation for warping the body and flange which could cause the shaft to bind..
The idle speed will be lower when the engine is cold and raise as the engine warms..

The throttle crosslink has two oil pockets that must be lubed. A slight bend in the mount for the cross shaft will make a bind.
