Lost Bolt/Radius Rod Cap Assembly

Well, two steps forward, one back. I replaced my broken front spring, and decided to replace the deteriorating rubber radius ball with the original style new from Snyder's. The bolts were buggered up, so I thought I would put the new ones in that came with the new assembly. I got one out without a problem, but dropped the new one when trying to align it from the top. Now I can't find it.
I should have done a search on the Barn before starting and I would have seen the solutions others have made to insure this wouldn't happen! :(
I have pulled the starter, and the inspection plate but have been unable to fish the bolt out with a magnet. I just have no idea where it went to. Any suggestions? What kind of flexible magnet have others used? I really hate to think I might have to pull the transmission to fix this. That might be over my head!
Thanks for help! I read the Barn every day and have avoided many problems just reading what others have experienced.

I've used a bent wire coat hanger to search and move it to reachable spot, a very trying search I might add. Be patient.

Hook,
The good news is it's in there....! You just have to find it. I would get one of the heavy flexible magnet arms and try to fish around from the inside from the inspection plate down. It is probably under the pressure plate and hard to see... if you need.. you can pull down the wishbone out of the way and wedge it down with a block of wood, then remove the felt and pin and go through the hole with the flexible magnet forward snaking it under the pressure plate...
You will find it.. .I'm sure.
good luck!

ive had success with blindly grabbing things with those cables with the claw that pops out when you press the other end.

if you have a VERY string magnet may be able to stick it to the outside of the trans and slide it around till you can see it.

When you do find it and get it outa there - next time use a thin wire and poke it up through the bolt hole and through the cotter pin hole in the bolt so that you can guide it into the hole and if you drop it again you will still have ahold of it. Good luck with your search - you'll get it, but it may take most of your patience.

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I have the radius ball, felt and pin out so I've done some fishing through that opening. I'll try the flexible claw next, them maybe a coat hanger with a magnet if I can figure out how to attach it. The magnets I have aren't as flexible as I would like, so its hard to get them to bend enough when going through the radius ball opening.
Really a mystery on how "lost" this bolt has gotten.

Forgot to thank Larry for his suggestion. I saw that in another thread after I lost mine. I need to do the search here on all these topics before proceeding.:(

Happened the same way with my roadster. After wasting 4 or 5 hours trying to fish it out I placed a strong disc magnet on the flywheel, that was a mistake as when I rotated the fly wheel the magnet stuck to part of the flywheel housing down inside. I lifted the engine out, found the lost bolt and magnet and had everything reassembled in an hour.

The bolt could have bounced into the future haha its like when you drop a washer or bolt from the workbench, you see it hit the floor and poof it will never be found again!

A glob of grease on the flywheel, crank engine around once and you will pick up virtually everything at the bottom of the housing, including your bolt. WIPE off the grease.
