Looking tyo but a 4 post lift

Mine is a BendPak HD9ST, couldn't be happier. Needs air to lift the safeties, but that's a minor inconvenience, I have air in the shop anyway. I specified the 120 vac motor rather than the 220 vac (no extra charge) that comes with it only because I wanted it that way, hasn't seemed to make a notable difference in lifting power or time to lift. I use mine mainly for oil changes, repairs on my cars and winter storage - I should have bought one years ago, it would have saved me the discomfort/aches/pains of spending time on my back on a cold cement floor. I still bang my head from time to time, wife says that explains a lot.

Rotary Lift makes most of the commercial lifts you see in dealerships and private repair shops. I worked as a mechanic at Verizon for thirty years. When our 40-year-old in-ground Weaver twin post hoists needed replacing they bought Rotary lifts. Our hoists needed annual safety inspections and the guy that did the inspections flies all over the country doing forensic investigations on hoists accidents. I really value his opinion, when I asked him which hoist he recommended for home use he said he preferred the Rotary lifts because of the parts availability and safety features. He restores Model T's, he has a four post and a two post in his own garage. I was thinking of getting a 10,000 pound two post hoist. New they are around $3500.00 installed yourself. He said not to pay more than a $1000.00 for a used one.

I have a 4-post Backyard Buddy. I've had it for about 7 years. No problems. The 4-post lift doesn't need anchoring. Great for storing another car. Made in the USA! Pat

Re: Looking to but a 4 post lift

Be careful of foreign lifts .... BackYard buddy is USA and uses USA steel. Some of the other guys are "made" in USA of foreign steel or China subassemblies ... i.e. just packaged in USA. Also the hydraulics may be from China. I bought a Rotory few years ago with USA steel and USA manufacture...the hydraulics were from Europe.

In retrospec I may have gone with the Backyard buddy because it looks like a like a slightly nicer rachect system, but at the time I could not confirm their steel source ... the Rotary has been just fine

I just recently purchased a BendPak HD-9 four post lift. I’ve been happy with it up to now. It took some planning to put it together by myself but it can be done rather easily. You do need an air supply to release the safety latches and I had mine prewired for 208 volts. I did purchase the caster set to be able to move it in the future if necessary. Feel free to email me with any questions regarding the assembly of this lift.

Eagle 8000 lb 2 post lift. Bought used for 800.00

I have used it for over 6 years, no problems with these light fords on it....

I have a 4 post and a 2 post from Gemini Lifts in Ft. Worth, TX and have found both to be extremely useful. I bought the 4 post first because I thought it would be easier to use, however, I find the two post just as easy and especially usefule for changing oil, working on brakes, changing tires, etc. The 220v single phase is a little faster than the 110v.

Exhaust system work is better on the 4 post. I do have the optional jack system with this unit and it is also a nice addition.

I've posted it before and I repeat it again. Our club has purchased a number of Backyard Buddy 4 post lifts and we all swear by them. Buy their USA product of do without. I've had mine about 4 yrs. JMO. Al

My son purchased a 2 post, 9,000 lb Rotary lift from work, $150 in parts (this was a VERY used lift!) and it is ready for another 20 years of work! Like my buddy Hamtown Al said, you can't go wrong with a Backyard buddy 4 post lift; Al's next door neighbor and fellow club member replaced a (in my opinion very dangerous) China 4 poster with a Backyard Buddy, and we all feel safe under it! Buy American, its more economical in the long run, and we all want a long run here on earth! Good luck!

I scored a used two post Worth 12,000lb lift for $500. Needed a new hose and anchor bolts. What a great investment in a shop! Made in USA and parts are available. We have used it for everthing and love it.

Bought a 2 post four or five years ago used, a good investment. Wish I would have looked a little longer did not realize that good used equiptment was that plentiful.

My two cents..two post is the only way to go..brake work, tire rotation, etc. You need at least a 5" thick slab. mine is a Rotary. Ken
