Anybody know of a place i can get coker firestones cut in CT area. Our oval track stuff always done in NC but we bought rims an tires from them...
These cokers are terrible....l
100% regarding horrible tires. Not CT, but I had mine done by K & T Vintage Sports Cars in Bethlehem, PA. Phone # is 484-281-8085.
Owner told me he's called Coker countless times and they just don't care.
I have 7 sets out there now. All with complaints. Look great and some ok. But the min we change a set to other brands it’s very obvious they are not what they one time were. But glad you had good luck.I have driven tens of thousands of miles on Coker tires with four Early V-8s, ranging from a '36 Roadster to a '51 Mercury. Very happy with Coker tires.
I realize that many people have complaints, but I'm betting many more are happy with Coker tires and keep buying them

Well having been oversize heavy hauler for many years it just doesn’t pay to run caps. If you blow a tire its 4-12 hours or more wait time. Than a hefty billi've never seen a new tire manufacturing process, but can only assume that it involves some similar labor intensive operations as does a recap process. Years ago, i did watch the Bruces Tires recap process, and from that, can see why many tires are out of round, out of balance, delaminate. Coker, as I recall, has changed hands, no longer a family business, and all tires today are of inferior rubber quality, as seen in extensive sidewall cracking on almost new tires. I spend quite a bit of time on highways, and see more blowouts on private cars these days, but interestingly, fewer 18 wheeler recap debris on the roadway. I wonder, is there a new law on 18 wheeler recaps?
The shame of it is they know full well of the problem. For giggles, talk to a rep at the next car show they are at. They go into a full blown routine of making more excuses than someone going to jail to what the reason is. As you can imagine, it's never their tires.
When you get them shaved, the proof is in the pudding. The cutter doesn't move. It only takes off the high parts of the "round" tire.
What I understand, their molds are old/worn and they do not want to spend the money to make new ones.
Hopefully they will so they can be proud of their product.
Unfortunately, that would probably drive repop prices into the stratosphere.![]()
