Looking for Window A/C in Model A Pic.

About 4 or 5 years ago I was at the MARC national meet and saw a Model A with a window air conditioner held up by a board running down to the running board. It also had a large generator mounted over the rear bumper. Would anyone have pictures of this car that they could post or email to me? Thanks

I saw one of these at Macungie, PA, about five-eight years ago... car was a Fordor, I think Maroon & Black, and looked.... well-used...

It had a Honda generator lashed on the trunk rack....

If I have any pics, I'll post them... it was way befoer I had a digital camera...

Tom here is a jpeg I saved:

attachments do not work!

Thread was named "It is real easy"

It is gone from the FB site ... search does not find it... Must have been one of the political threads.

It was on old FB ... that is why it is not found!!

This MIGHT work:

Mike V posted it in July 2009 so he might have a larger, better resolution copy.

If you are going to cobble something together, I would think removing the "rear" window would be a little cleaner installation. I know, you can't see out. You can't see out the left side mirror in the picture installation.

Davis in Texas makes a real AC system. Works great and sure looks better than the window thing.

Boy, that generator looks like an old lunker Homelite, with the 10 HP (?)
Briggs engine... the kind that takes two strong people to lift it... surprised it's not lifting the front wheels of the car off the ground... :D

The rig I saw at Macungie definitely had 2x4 wood cribbing bracing the A/C unit from the running-board. Hope I can find the pics...

If I recall correctly, the guy's wife has really terrible asthma and the heat gets to her so he rigged that up. I believe I saw him again a couple years ago and he had the newer less-conspicuous underhood setup running.

Tom, the car you are talking about belongs to a member of our club. His wife dose have some medical issues and that was the reason for the unit. He installed a unit under the dash two years ago that works great. I must confess that he definitely gathered quite the crowd at a meet compared to the very nicely restored cars.:p When we drove to the national meet in Dearborn a few years back there was a group of men from Norway that thought it was a fantastic idea.:D The only drawback was when the generator ran out of gas.
