Looking for good 32 Ford reference material

Hi guys. I just picked up my life long dream, a 32 5 window coupe. Actualy it's just the body but at least it's a start!:)

Since I am quite green on the 32 I was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction for good reference material and part sources. I can handle body, paint and mechanical issues okay but what I'd like to learn about it things that are specific to the 32 like sheet metal replacement(where to make the cuts), how to install the roof insert and what the interior should be like.

I've done quite a bit of searching on the net for parts sources but 32 parts especialy sheet metal seems to be few at best so if you guys could suggest a source for that I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

1. EV8 Club 32 reference books
2. Ford Service Bulletins 32-37
3. "The Early Ford v8 as Henry Built It" Francis and DeAnglis
4. The EV8 album

Buy the club '32 book set first, as it reproduces some original books that can be very hard to find!
Here's what I consider essential...I eventually got hold of all of this and a lot more, but it took 50 years or relentless searching and sometimes going without groceries when I hit something rare! * means readily available in reproduction

DeAngelis and club book, for sure!!

Parts coverage: '28-32 chassis parts, '32 body parts (not nearly as useful as it sounds!), '32 hardware catalog (1933 imprint, rare but in the book now!) AND '28-48 chassis book to help with interchange.*

"1932 restoration book" or similar, NOT the club book but a little pamphlet that reproduces some of the excellent line drawings from Salesman's manual which is nearly unattainable. Help with title?*

owner's manual...lots of editions, one is repro'd*

1932-6 NAPA shop manual...can't remember what the repro is titled.*

'32-7 Bulletins AND the 1932 only set because of big size and important illustrations.*

Nacewicz and Drake catalogs

Goodies I have found: 1932 B and V8 shop manual by Manly, rare as hell.
Salesman's book...looseleaf, so nearly every one you see is different!
Lots of foreign parts catalogs...Canada, GB, NZ, Denmark, Germany, France...totally over the fence neat information!

Canadian Service bulletins

Once you get below the repro line, everything is rare and expensive of course; the books will bankrupt you almost as quickly as the metal when you get into '32's...

www.brookvilleroadster.com/ for starters for sheet metal.

Model A Ford Club of America for some great "How to " books, not a '32, but...

you can order '32 ford frame plans from:

American Stamping

Olive Branch, MS

tel : (662) 895-5300

or email Michelle @ jutbl@msn.com

** put '32 rail prints in subject line. drawings are $10 USD

This info was in the June 2003 issue of StreetRodder, pg.196

Also, i found an article in Street&Custom Rodding magazine, Fall 2002, pg.30, they have an article on building a frame and it also shows some of the modifications made from the stock frame. doesn't go into a lot of detail but some good info.

CHECK THEIR GAUGE OF METAL, THERE'S AN OUTFIT I BELIEVE IN MICHIGAN WITH HEAVIER GAUGE

http://www.earlyfordv8.org/ as mentioned above

Also look at Street Rodder magazine for sources of parts in the various ads.

You gotta keep your priorities straight for a healthy life when you get involved with '32's...Healthy Priorities:

1. 1932 literature, including the stuff in languages you can't read.
2. Food for dog.
3. 1932 Ford parts.
4. Food for family.
5. Miscellabeous crap...taxes, mortgage, etc., if anything left.
