My wife and I are looking for a room in or around Hershey for October 6-8, 2010. I realize that all rooms are probably taken in every hotel, motel, and bed/breakfast, however, someone may not be using one or someone may know of an opening somewhere. Please contact me at: wit10@roadrunner.com
Frank is right. There are many new hotel/motel properties in and around the Harrisburg area. If you go on line and look, you should come up with something. Good luck. It is definately worth it!
Try Comfort Inn [road across from Giant Stadium] and just past the a.a.c.a. Museum.1-717-540-8400 [ 169.00 first nite , $159.00 second nite 149.00 third nite.]Goes down for everyday you stay $10.00 ..If you stay lets say for 4 nites thats.$556.00 for all 4 nites.@ $139.00 per nite.. Days Inn has rooms that we stayed at since 1986 when they just opened. $200.00 per nite and no discount and you must take 4 days..We pulled out last year and went this year to Comfort inn. Days Inn is on Hershey ave. They pissed us off after all those years having 2 rooms there. A group for the weekend playing baseball in a little league game got the rooms for $159.00 ... We did say something about it to the owner and he said SORRY.$200.00 per nite... So you can guess what we said before we left!
We have experienced the same problem recently with hotels for Hershey. This year because of the constant increase in price many of our group opted out and will not be attending. Good for Peter telling the Days Inn how he feels. I hope other hotels notice attendance dropping and get the message they can't keep raising prices.
Guy came in the shop last week and said The Hershey Lodge is up to $825.00 for the required 3 night stay. Wonder why we stopped going there after 30 years?
Find a friend with a camper you can use or rent one. You will have a ball. We did it the first 11 years as a group. Someone different cooked every nite ,took turns. There was at one point about 40 of us with motor homes and campers. I for one stayed in a pickup truck with a bed cover. Took showers in the stadium...Smelt chocolate cooking every morning and about 4:00 a.m. the train would come by.[a long one].BOY, the good old Hershey day's will never be the same. 1986 the Day's Inn was $89.00 ...
My daughter has an ex boyfriend (his dad still sends her b/day wishes) but have been told NOT to contact them for a place to stay so I'm going down (bucket list, you know) and going to just "wing it". Hope the weather is good.
Paul in CT
I just went on Priceline and got a room at the Radisson in Harrisburg for $70 a night for 4 nights. Go for the 3 star rooms and name your price. you will get a nice room if you dont go for the 2 or 2 1/2 star joints. My room went for $128 on Orbitz but I got it for $70
