Looking for a little information

Just completed[almost] the restoration on my 1957 Thunderbird.

In the process I replaced the front end assembly with new disc brakes and power steering.

My question is this. Since many other people have done the same thing,are these parts worth anything?

A check with flea bay show nothing.
 
Is the BIRD a survivor or driver?

Will it be restored one day?

I would hold onto the take-off if you decide to sell and the buyer wants it OEM ASSEMBLY.
 
You have the manual steering parts leftover & available?
Pitman arm, idler arm, center link, etc.

Personally I like the road feel of manual steering better than the on-center vagueness of oem power assisted steering, most folks seem to prefer their Baby Birds with all the options.

For improved braking oem '57 Bird front drum brakes are a bit wider than on '55/'56 Birds. I have an extra set of '57 backing plates, spindles & drums here to use on a '55 if I want to, not overly inclined to go the added expense of discs on a car that brakes fine as is.
Same as with the steering many owners like to go with new aftermarket parts.

There should be a few folks who'd like your extra parts but it might take some time to find them.

if you have the space, keep the old parts. They may come in handy if you decide to sell the car and the buyer wants them.

I did a full frame off restoration.

I am to the point where I realize my 6 foot 4 inch 72 year old body don't fit.

This car would have been a blast 25 years ago, now not so much.

It will most likely go up for sale this spring, thus the question regarding the spare parts.

flea bay used to be a decent indicator of what was moving, what parts people would deal on, etc. The problem is that over the past 10-12 years, eBay has pushed away most of the sellers like us who were in the market to offload such items. They have lost a lot of us... do not get me started on what they did with the search engine and the categories.

I need to do a YouTube video on this - maybe "How eBay Motors took its own Life" or something, I don't know. It's bad.
 
I never have luck selling parts for any of my collector cars. Seems like someone always wants to give me 10 cents on the dollar of my most modest price. I have given a few parts away over the years to people that were in need of the specific part. The only price was that the part had to go on the car NO MATTER WHAT within 60 days. Not giving my part away top a person that needs it for the part to live on their workbench for 10 years.

My recycler asks 20 questions now. I wonder how they make any money since it is such a hassel now.
 
my latest experience with our USPS....Still have received the part. Notice that it was routed thru Birmingham,not once,but twice.Two seperate time with a stop in between at Talladega.

AMAZON (3rd Party Seller) And USPS -

Ordered some kitchen gadget form AMAZON and waited and waited. Went to TRACKING.

USPS shows delivered to a facility some thirty miles below me (after going thru Cincinnati). Finally marked UNDELIVERABLE.

So contact the seller and want my money back. AMAZON does not honor 3rd party seller claims (and have had this problem again since then). Finally got the money back.

If not marked PRIME, the 3rd party seller usually uses USPS as to cost.

A seller should offer a choice of shipper. If the cost of UPS is greater, I will eat it rather than go thru the song and dance with USPS.

I have bought thru Evil-Bay but would not sell because of all the fraud.
 
It was just one part. Yes, I received it on 1/12/25, 20 days after it was shipped on 12/23/24.
Believe it or not, it was delivered at 5.45 pm on a Sunday evening.

I received an email stating the the delivery had been made. I turned on the porch light and there it sat on the front step.

I guess the post office had got caught up delivering all of the Amazon packages.
