Looking for 1936 conv sedans for survey

We're trying to find as many 1936 convertible sedans as we can in an effort to determine just how many slantback and how many truck models were produced. There were 5,601 produced in all but apparently nobody recorded what body tag was on the first trunk model. We've found 181 cars and narrowed the range to about 177 wherein the changeover occured. Pics of 36 conv sedans are particularly welcomed; whether you own them or just saw them somewhere. Thanks to all for all past help and hopefully we'll find more. My website at www.36fords.com has more details if you care to look. Thanks again, Al

Hey Al, I must be falling down on the job. Haven't found any new (that you didn't already known about) Conv Sedans for your list lately. I'll try to pick up the pace.

100 of the cars of the 181 found have body ID tags. Of the 181 cars found so far, 73 are slantback models and 108 trunk models.

Here's some older pics of my granddaughter "helping" me with my black pkp when I first got it. She's my favorite helper!:)

Hey Al, I've always "WISHED" that I owned a '36 Convertible Sedan.....does that possibly help any or count with your survey? :) LOL Those pictures of your granddaughter, when posted on the old 'barn, made me want to take some pictures of my two sitting in my '35. I'll try to post a few here. These pictures took a little bribing to get them to pose. I have had no luck so far with getting them to do any work. :D I asked my grandson if he would like to have one of my old cars some day and he just looked at me strange and said "Pop Pop, lets play some of my video games together", and that's what we did. I guess that's a sign of the times. JM

Thanks to all for sharing the great pics of your helpers. You don't have to have a 36 conv sedan to be on the lookout for them. In my view, pictures of our little helpers are welcome additions and enhancements to all threads. They are really welcomed here. Let's see some more. You can always say you were getting ready to go LOOK for some conv sedans! Thanks again for sharing. Also, car number 182 was emailed to me today by the husband whose wife's grandfather salted a nice one away many years ago. Seems to be low mileage, too. It's a trunk model and he's going to look for the body ID tag. EVERY car matters! Thanks again to all MY helpers. Al

OOPS! Turns out number 182 was already in our survey. It has body number 4868. So we're back to 181 total know 36 conv sedans. If you see one at a show, please email me a pic of the car and of the windshield sticker if there is one.:D Thanks in advance for all help. Al

Hi Al,some good news from Mexico...

Victor, a friend o mine owns a green 36 convertible sedan, restored and fully running..i dont have any pics but i will ask some for you,easy...with the VIN numbers if you need those too...

If you 're doing the same inventory for the 35s another lady in Mexico City owns a solid project 35..i do have pics of this one if you need too...

keep up the good work, Sled

Thanks for the help. We're only surveying the 1936s in order to determine how many slantback models and how many trunk models were produced. The car you know about could be THE CAR that solves the mystery. There is that potential with every new car we find. That's why we're looking for every one. Al

Al,welcome anytime...already mailed my pal Victor so i'll get soon some pics for you ..stay tuned, Sled

PS.As far i as i know this is the only 1 36 convertible sedan in Mexico...and the 35 too!

Al, I got behind a '36 convertible sedan on the way to the Jalopy Showdown last weekend. It was black with a red grille. I believe he may have had a modified suspension and an OHV engine. He said he was from Baltimore and his dad had sold you a car. I believe he said it was also a convertible sedan. He also said he had another CS at home. You probably know exactly who I'm talking about and already have his two cars on your list. I have a picture on my cell phone if you would like me to post here. JM

Bet it looked alot like this! They sold me my first cabriolet. I didn't know they had a second conv sedan... I'll have to follow up. Great folks! Dad drives the 36 conv sedan, his son drives a 36 roadster, and his daughter drives a coupe! I try to hook up with them at York each year. Great examples of the fine Ford folks you meet in this hobby. Thanks for the info as you never know if the next conv sedan will be the one that solves the mystery. Appreciate the help, as always. Al

That's the one Al. It has changed slightly since your picture was taken. Here are a few pictures taken at the Jalopy Showdown. I like the dog jumping out of the crank hole and many other things about this car.
