Location of GAV knob ?

Was at Macungie yesterday, one of the best old-car meets in the East, and had a great time looking at the Model A's....

Was looking at a '28, and noticed that the GAV was located pretty far back underneath the gas-tank.

On my '28 is the bracket & knob right at the outer-edge of the tank...

When did Ford change the location of the bracket / knob ?

( Also, the majority of the '28-'29 cars there did NOT have black wheels...;) )

In 1928 the choke rod was lengthed and the bracket on the gas tank was moved to the outer edge.

All 28-29 A's left the factory with black wheels; whitewall tires and colored wheels are the choice of the owner . I personally like black wheels and tires, it permits the eye to see the body and not the wheels and tires.

I beleive sometime in October it was changed. Pluck did a survey not too long ago trying to norrow down a date. The info last I seen was inconclusive as to an exact date and any overlap. Simply not enough samples due somewhat to lack of cooperation or general disinterest. Rod
