I put one of the "plastic" firewall covers in our '51 F-1 (didn't get it from LMC) it did not have any of the stock holes punched, in fact; it had no holes in it at all. If you are going for the factory original look, the plastic one will not do it. However, if you want a nice clean look with only the holes you need for heater, etc., in my opinion, the plastic is a good choice. I was able to insulate the space between the firewall and the plastic cover as well.
