lights on = horn blows

Took a lengthy night ride in our 1930 town sedan and unusual thing occured. With the lights on my horn would go on when making a turn and then stop when going straight. This never happened when lights are off. Is the trouble in the horn button or in the light switch body?? As always, any ideas would be greatly appreciated !

Your light switch rod may be bent. You will have to drop the steering column from the gas tank bracket and pull the rod out to check if it's bent. That same thing happen to me.

You WILL get the answer, if you give enough input/clues.
Tell if you've done ANYTHING/repairs/changes to your unit. Is it stock original or repop/modified what?
For example, the rod has insulators. If it's original..insulators may be worn out! If you've changed anything, like removing the rod...may have bent it(doesn't take much). Tell us:confused:

My car did that too. Allways "honked" while steering.
Took of the switch and found bent rod. This is, why
it shorted the horn while steering.
I attached some shrink hose over the lower rod which fixed it.
Best regards
Christoph

I have a problem somewhat ?? I turn on my dash light and the engine cuts off... before i start i am thinking a short in the light switch [forsure] .So guess i'll try another dash light. But what a pain in the *** to replace .Hate to remove the dash. l.o.l.

The definition of "steering angle" ground. Wasn't there a "Chico and The Man" episode where the MAN proved himself by mechaniching out the reason a "Furrin" car's (Porsche?) horn honked when the turn signal was invoked???

A short in an A. "A Sure Fire way to meet new people." You've got to love the sense of humor of you guy's here on the Barn.

Take the light switch body apart and you will see the horn feed sticking up in the middle with a spring. Slip a short piece of shrink tube over the spring and shrink it with a heat gun onto the spring. That should cure your problem.

I'm having this same problem with the lights on the horn blows, and was wondering if anyone had a picture of what you describe?

Same thing happened to me. Check to see if the horn rod is bent. This will be the first item I would check.
