Lighten Flywheel

I have an 8BA Flywheel that currentlt weighs 32 pounds.
I want to lighten it to about 22 -24 pounds.

I have read a lot of good info on this subject but I dont know what is the preferd method of doing this?

My flyhweel is 1 inch thick, could I just take a 1/4 inch off the face? Can I get enough weight off by just taking off the corner of the flywheel outside of the pressure plate to the ring gear?

I could dish out the back but wouldn't that just be the same as taking it off the face?

Any help would sure be appreciated. A picture would or a link to a picture would help me a lot.

Thanks in Advance for any help.

taking to much off the face of the flywheel changes the distance between the trans and clutch and pressure plate, may cause a free play issue, take just enough off from there to true and smooth the flywheel, take the rest off from the back between the flywheel mounting bolts and the ring gear. #22 is getting close, i would recomend stopping at #25

Thanks ford 1,
That makes sense about the freeplay issue. I did find a picture of a lightened flywheel for sale on ebay and it was done as you said. And you are probably right about 26 pounds.
Thanks for the help.
