Light Switch Operations

 Having problems with my 'standard' light switch on my '28... Would someone please refresh my memory on what position the switch 'lever' should be in to perform the lighing function(s). Sounds dumb but please respond! Thanks Always... SALTMAN

Since I purchased the new wiring harness, the switch is very hard to move from one position to the other. It does NOT work smoothly at all... never has. I can remember that the wire bail was very difficult to get on. Now, that I have got it off, I can see deep scaring, on the dimpled connectors, from the rotating connector. To me, the whole housing should fit correctly regardless of how hard the wire bail is to install... Regardless, the switch is far to hard to turn and is destroying the light connector... now, I am having problems with the tail light staying on.

I'm assuming it's the same setup as a '31?

The off position will be pointing to the 6 o'clock position
The parking lights should be on when the lever is pushed to the left (clockwise)
And the low beams and high beams will be turned on when the lever is pushed to the right (counter-clockwise).
One click for the low beams and two clicks for high

...and the only dumb questions are the ones not asked.

If it's the original 3 position switch then OFF is at 6 o'clock, PARKING is at 5 o'clock, and HEADLAMPS is at 7 o'clock.

The correct spider has 4 contacts for the fluted headlamps, and 3 contacts for the later TWOLITE headlamps. Which style spider and switch contact plate do you have?
