Light switch issue

Ok I have a strange situation going on. my lights arnt working right at all and it seems everything i mess with it does something different I have pulled the switch body apart and there wasn't any oil in it. I cleaned the terminals for good measure not sure what to try next

well it changes everythime i mess with it but the last time when i put it into parking lights the left paring bulb and the headlight beam came on. in low beam both beams came on not sure if it was high or low. in hight beam just the right light comes on. All bulbs are new

I'd be looking at the headlight sockets and the wireplugs for wires touching.
Are you using original parts or reproduction.

i just got the car not that long go and have been trying to figure out all the little issues the wires are l plugged into the switch and soldered in place. i haven't messed with any connections

I would guess reproduction do to the condition they are in i guess ill break out the test light today and see what I can figure out. I have narrowed my list down to a carb rebuild an exhaust leak at the maifold pipe connection and the lights

Just a friendly reminder to make sure to disconnect the battery before working on the light connections.

If your car does not have one you might consider an in line fuse block that mounts on the starter. It can save your wiring harness and prevent a fire.

If you do in fact have a reproduction light switch some of them are not as good as the original ones. You could look for one at a local swap meet.

Good luck on tracking down your lighting issues.

I got it figured out it is in the connections at the base of the headlamps themselves what is the best way of fixing them ?

Unless you really want to torture yourself, just bypass the connector at the base of the headlamp and replace it with bullet connectors. While you are at it, run a dedicated ground wire thru the conduit.

the spring connections at the base of the lamps were doing everything but what they should have been doing so I replaces them with modern connections as recommended by several.

The repair to most WEIRD electrical problems is usually SIMPLE, once you narrow down the PROBLEM! STUDY & get familiar with your wiring diagram.
