Light Bar Installation

Loosen up the brackets that hold the fenders. You will have to remove the splash shield that is under the radiator first. Loosen or remove all the bolts including the one that attaches the fender to the bracket at the end of the bracket. Install the bolts that hold the light bar and snug the nuts but do not tighten them. Then re install the bolts for the bracket without tightening the nuts. Then tighten all the fasteners a little at a time until all are tight.

on the 30-31 loosen up one of the fender bracket from the frame. install the two bolts on the opposite side of the head light bar. now install the lower bolt on the side you loosened up by pushing the fender down. sometimes I remove the fender bracket. install the bar than reinstall the fender bracket.

I purchased the stainless bolts from a popular vendor and would not do it again because, number one they were almost too short, #2 they galled and were a pain when it was time to remove and 3 they were threaded the full length and that makes them catch all the way down. I bought plain ole stove bolts at the hardware store and ground all the threads off except what I needed, this allowed play so they go in easy and after painting they look good.

I leave the opposite side somewhat loose. Then I thread the other side in from the top. I use a 5/16" or 3/8" on the square shoulder under the head to get it going. PIA if ya ask me.

Thanks for all the tips. After struggling, removing one of the braces and enlarging the holes, and replacing a couple of the bolts I was able to complete the assembly. This was definitely not a good Ford idea.
