Lifting locations for flathead

Quik question, were is the best lifting point's on a flathead engine? I'm wanting to pull motor out to work on frame and do not want to damage motor.

I have always used a chain and two exhaust manifold bolts on each side........never had a problem. The engine seems to be balanced fairly well (front to rear). I have seen guys use the intake manifold bolts, but never tried that. I guess a hefty stainless steel cable would also work in place of the chain.

I use an engine leveler. It allows me to tip the engine for easier aligning to the trans.

Iuse a set of what I think are ford service tools, they work great, only drawback is the manifold needs to be removed.

Buy 2 3/8 eye bolts, these can then be installed at different locations in the intake manifold to raise the engine without removing anything from the engine. Great for lazy [people like myself.

I use two of the intake manifold bolt holes, in back of the heat riser, and a short piece of chain... Karl

Just to be safe, remove all the components that attach to the intake manifold - to prevent damage. (carb, gen, fuel pump and stand, etc.)
