I recently sold my '29 Special Coupe. It is the first time since 1961 that I have sold a Model A without having another in the wings. A whole bunch of health issues have come up in the past couple of years and the latest is the ongoing degradation of my eyesight.
I thought a lot about this before making my move, but I weighed the enjoyment against the constant worries, the possible dangers I was posing for my loved ones and the fact that the intensity it takes to drive an 83 year old car in today's traffic was just too much for this old guy. The ongoing maintennce became an obligation and finally I sold the Ford to someone who seemed to genuinely care about its future, so all is well.
I actually feel a load being lifted from me. No more for me... it is now someone else's turn to have this car.
The things I thought I would miss are not really anything all that important to me; there is life after a Model A Ford.
I am in no way being critical of the hobby or the car... It was just time to do it and now someone else has the pride of ownership. You have all been a great help to me in the past and I wish you all good health and many happy safe miles. I will still be checking in once in a while as long as the eyes can do it.
Thank you all,
Richard
