i'm helping a friend who has a early 28 leatherback. all the hardware for swinging out the ws is missing. he ordered the swing arm bracket that bolts thru the ws frame, but there is no stud for the swing arms to slide on. he has the swing arm nuts and misc. washers etc. where is the stud? i don't see any extra holes or brackets in the ws post for a stud.can't find anything in the catalogs. suggestions or photos please.
he is switching to 12 volts. i pulled the starter and found it tobe the 1/2" shaft
and the old bendix spring is pretty mangled and there doesn't seem to be any parts for the 1/2" bendix. i'm thing it best to find a 5/8" shaft starter and go with the new style bendix. suggestions???

I have a '28 Briggs Body leatherback (9-11-'28) and the windshield swings out on brackets similar to all other Model A's. There are two posts or studs that the swing arms are tightened to on the inside of the vehicle which are difficult to find. They attach to the inside of the vehicle through the sheet metal on the sides. I can send you a picture of what the windshield set up on mine for you to see the parts on my vehicle. The part Bob C posted is no where similar to my setup. If you are interested in the pictures. My email is jrelliott42@gmail.com

I don't think I would use a ½" shaft starter with 12V. Better to switch to a ⅝" shaft starter. Even tho my 6v starter worked great on 12v, I installed 12v field coils in my starter. the 6v starter seems to hit pretty hard on 12v.

some pictures of the stud and what ever is involved at the ws post would certainly help. the catalogs offer the swing arms and angle brackets that bolt to the ws frame, but nothing on the stud at the ws post. your help will be greatly appreciated
