GM should you catch this post maybe you could advise.59 rebuilt engine ,less than 100 miles, skips water pumps .one appears to be leaking oil from behind the pully.Migh it take up ? how might it be fixed if it is leaking from there ,We have not taken it off to have a good look as yet. Thanks Johnny.

What weight oil? To thin of oil may show a drop or so on the mount foot. If it slings oil or you don't like the small drop send it back and Skip will fix it. I use 20/40 and on a couple cars I see a small damp spot once in a while and just wipe it off with a paper towel. This doesn't make a mess and I know the pumps are getting lubed. If it slings oil it is a problem. G.M.

It will stop eventually, mine did the same thing & after a few cleanups no more throwing of oil. My pumps are in the heads (1934).
(P.S. Skips pumps sure helped lower my engine temperature.)

GM the oil used is 5-50 its much more than drops .but we are going to use it some and keep a eye out on it .thanks for the input GM and others. Johnny

I think you will find the thin 5 or even 10 part of the 50 oils will seep oil but if it slings on the inner fender send it back. G.M.

G.M.you must know or remember that Skip had some issues with oil leaking pumps a few years ago and it was not because of oil viscosity. Mine leaked extremely bad from the startup on my new engine ,so bad I was afraid it was from the crankshaft front seal.I was relieved to trace the puddle to the pumps. I was the guy who sent the pumps back to Skip and they were stolen from his mail box supposedly. I did get replacement pumps and no oil leaks in last 5 years. If I had to do it over again I still would go with Skip pumps and on a 59AB I would not want a ball bearing pump but go with a bushing, engine oil lube pump,I have my reasons and expiereince with ball bearings and water or coolant.

I remember the pumps that got stolen a number of years ago. A women who was a postwoman around the corner saw a car with 2 guys stop. One got out and lifted the trash bag out of the can and dropped your empty box under the bag. She went out after they left and got the box and called Skip. I wasn't aware it was a returned set and often wondered about the check?? This must have been in 2006 or 2007 which was right after hurricane Charlie. I was always afraid of a box being taken because of his remote location. A friend of mine bought a store that had several of those propane bottle cages and I got him to give one to Skip. I made it into a drop box for him with a swing up door up high and 2 angled over lapping baffles that the boxes drop down below them to the bottom so you couldn't get the box out even with a fishing hook.
He has move and took the box to his new home and still uses it. He has it behind a fence out by the road and covered the sides and put a sloped roof on it, It looks just like an outhouse so a friend of mine and myself cut out 2 quarter moons and stuck one on each side. Skip liked them and left them on, I don't know how his wife felt.
I remember on some 37 to 48 pumps Ford ran a 3 fluted broach in where the bushing presses in in and that caused a leak. He bores them and presses a new seat in to prevent the leak now. G.M.

I guess I'm missing something here? How are the water pumps that are located in the heads (32-36) oiled from the engine I thought they were originally lubed with a grease fitting on the housing & Skip's pumps have a sealed bearing. Please enlighten me. Thank you.
Gary.
