A couple of years ago, I bought a leakless water pump (part #A-8501AE) from Macs, and had it installed on my car. Today, a friend and I were examining the pump, and found that there were real grease fittings on both the front and rear of the pump, when I had thought only 1 was supposed to be real. We also found that when the rear grease fitting was removed, water and antifreeze began to drip from the hole.
Three questions:
Should either grease fitting on a leakless water pump be real, or just for show? If so, which should be a real grease fitting, the front or the rear?
Should water/antifreeze drip from the hole when you remove the rear grease fitting, whether or not the grease fitting is real or fake?
