Can anyone give me prof as to who built the Late 31 Deluxe Tudors????.

Now I have been told that it was Ford and some say it was Budd and there have been some that have told me some other company's that I have never hurd of so this has been about a 4 year quest of mine if not more to find out for sure as to who built the Late 31 Deluxe Tudors.

And yes I know I have contacted the Benson Reseach Center and I think it would cost allot of money to find that info out because they have no clue as to who built the cars themselves and they have told me that it would take days just to find the info but that was a few years ago now and now it's $35.00 a hr for someone else do the research for me but that would add up to allot of money more then I'm willing to pay.

So rather then spending allot of money I just thought I would try it on here first as I have been doing as much research as I can on my own but have come up empty everytime so if someone knows as to who built those cars and has the prof of that please let me know.

Thanks reggie

Ford. The cars were added with carpet, sliding seats, interior light, pinstripe on the interior fuel tank, cowl lights, armrests in the rear, wood grained dash rail & garnish moldings, a specific pleating of the seats, parking brake plating( 1/2 satin, 1/2 bright),assist straps. the Deluxe sold for $525, v the standard $490. I'm probably missing some thing additional. Budd made the solid one piece roof body on the closed cab pickup truck. The 82-B

How do you know that Ford made them and do you have documentation of that fact????.

Reason is I have been told by many people that Budd made the bodies and then I have been told Ford made them and then allot of other people told me other Companies made them Companies that I have never hurd of made the bodies and shipped the completed stamped panels to Ford by rail knocked down and Ford just put them together at the factory and didn't do any of the stampings of the panels at all they just put the bodies together.

So if that is true who made the panels for Ford was it Budd or some other Company that's what I'm trying to find out but I need the documentation of that fact prof that it was and is or was in some way who made the bodies for Ford I know Ford did the inside and all the trimings already but who made the outside metal panles for Ford I know it wasn't Briggs or any of them normal ones that Ford used back in the Day.

I was told by a few people that it was Budd that made the panels and shipped the panels to Ford by rail to Ford But on Budds web site there is nothing on there that says that they had anything to do with making or stamping the Late 31 Deluxe Tudors out but on Budds site it does have a car on there that does look like the Deluxe Tudor but it doesn't say that they ever built it or did or had anything to do with the stampings for Ford on this car and on there site and the picture of the car that looks like it also says that that model was never produced.

But it did come out as a taxi only the following year and that was on the Budd web site or the Company records of that time and year so if they didn't make the Late 31 Deluxe Tudors who did make them but I need some kind of documantation of that fact and or where to find the documantation cause I have looked on the Budds site and found nothing there that say's that they had anything to do with making the 31 Deluxe Tudors and as far as I know Ford didn't do the stampings of that car either so who did did do the stampings for that car.

So Rons 49 thanks but if you have the documention of Ford building and or doing the stampings of those cars out or know a web site as to where I can get that documentation of that fact let me know cause I already know Ford did put the cars together and did all of the trimings and all but who did the stampings of the metal for Ford for that car was it Budd ????.

Or was it someone else that did the stampings for those cars or did Ford do the stampings of that car themselves but I need the prof of that fact so if anyone knows as to who did that and has the documantion of that fact or knows where I can get the prof of that please let me know I need the prof of the fact of who did that fact of it in some way or a link to the web site that will give me the prof of that fact or the documentation of that fact.

( Thanks: Ron but I need the prof of that fact ????. )

As if Ford did do that and that's just the inside that you are talking about but who did the stampings of the car ( THE METAL BODIES OF THAT CAR ) that's what I need the prof of who did the stampings of the car and sent them to Ford or did Ford do the stampings in house that's what I'm trying to find out as to WHO did what to that car with the documentation of that fact PROF of that fact that's what I'm trying to find out as to who built the car I know that Ford put the car together and everthing else but who did the STAMPINGS OF THAT CAR.

Reggie, You may want to track down Rick Black, he started the special interest group for Deluxe Tudors. He has done a lot of research and is very knowledgeable about them. I am at work so I don't have access to contact information, but I believe that information shows in one of the national magazines about that information, I think it is usually on the page that lists all the chapters and a contact person. He was and or still is the webmaster as well. Someone may be able to add some additional info on Rick's contact information.

If you go to the MAFCA website, click on contacts, there is a link for the webmaster and it shows that Rick is still the webmaster. You could reach out to him through that link.

31 Tudor: I know Rick very well I have talked to him about this already and he himself don't know who built them either he say's Ford but he don't have the prof of that or the documentation on it.

But that was awhile back like a few years back that I asked him that question but I will contact him again and maybe he knows more now but I talk to him normally once a month or so never met him other then through E-Mails only.

But thanks anyway Reggie

But do you have any proof that says Ford made the cars or if Budd made the cars that's what I'm trying to find out as to who made what if Budd did make the stampings for ford or did Ford make all of the stampings in-house.

And Budd had nothing to do with anything in making them or for that matter any other company.

But I need to know who did the stampings on the Deluxe Tudors I know Ford put them together and the rest of the other stuff.

That's what I'm trying to find out but I need is the proof of who made what with the 31 Deluxe Tudors.

And I did try the Ford garage and there's thing there that I could find on this matter that's why I put the post on here to find out who did what and who made the car with the proof of that fact.

Where is their proof?

Ford became an increasingly important customer for Budd as the twenties progressed. Budd built most of Ford's new line of factory commercial Model T and TT bodies that were introduced in 1924. When the new model A was brought out in 1928, Budd was called upon to provide the factory panel truck bodies for the Model A and Model AA delivery vans as well as the metal beds for model A Pickup Trucks. 1928 Budd panel van bodies were available in two lengths, a 57" long cargo compartment for the short wheelbase model, and a 93" compartment fort long-wheelbase Model A’s and AA’s.
Budd built the bodies for Ford's new Model A Deluxe Delivery Car introduced in 1930. Although it looked similar to a Tudor Sedan, the Delivery Car featured a totally different body that featured a slightly higher roof, solid rear quarters and a large rear cargo door.

Nothing here about tudor bodies, http://www.coachbuilt.com/bui/b/budd/budd.htm

If they have their minds made up NOTHING you do will change their minds, nothing. Prove that Renault did not make the battery to frame bolt for the A. You can show the drawings from Ford but does it state that Renault did not provide some, all, none? See what I'm getting at? Even the link and portion I give above, it states they supplied commercial, bodies, it states the delivery, but it does not say they did not supply late '31 Tudor bodies, or Victoria bodies.
