late 30 ccpu dove tail

Hi! folks. I know I ask before about the dove tails, but when I contact the part suppliers they tell me the late 1930 pickups did not have a female dove tail. I guess I'm really mixed up at this point, the squire hole in the door will not fit one rubbers let alone two.. tell me where I'm gone wrong. Thanks

This is an area I'm grappling with on my early 31. The rubber blocks are indeed too big to go in there. I had spares so I cut a set down just enough to fit, but it took a few expletives to get em in. I cut the other side down a bit more, now they seem too loose. In both cases the metal guides broke, both sets, 1 brass and 1 cad plated steel. I made some from thin stainless but I see they too are taking a beating.

Aren't Tudor and pickup the same door? What are the Tudor guys doing?

I think they are the some, but I have a 30 ccpu. I find that the 30's don't have female dove tails, you use the door frame. It would be better if I could see one together. Good luck with yours Dwight

I need to investigate this whole issue. How did Ford do it? Were the parts inside then the box spot welded in place? I'm now wondering if one of the sides will bend open enough to jam the parts in there then fold it back. The rubbers available are excessively large and of a hard durometer for the application. Without this in place the doors will sound like the cab is falling apart on even the slightest of rough roads. The top and bottom rubbers are of little assistance, and with enough beating the bottoms will also fall out. I've glued them in and they still come loose. Maddening, to me at least.

I was able to trim the rubber and install them in a 1930 CC truck without having to bend anything. This was about 10 years ago, but I still remember the job as being tough.

I just went thru this with mine.First i tried the smaller set then the bigger set.I cut them down and still no good.At some time during my trucks life the doors were worn pretty heavy and repaired. After removing the repair I found the problem. Some of the old rubber was still there and as hard as steel. After chiseling and scraping (Ifound a cotterpin puller worked best) the larger ones fit. For some reason I did have to lengthen my dovetails but thats a whole nother issue. Sorry about the crappy pics.
