Late 29 std coupe

How many of you have a late 29 std coupe? I don't see any restored ones shown in the magazines after the meets and when I ask specific detail questions here on that model it is sometimes hard to get answers. I know it is the poor mans model and many were turned into hot rods but there have to be a few out there!

The poor mans model A was a roadster, as it was cheaper than a coupe. There were plenty of coupes made in 1929. In fact 1929 was the year most model A's were made by quite a bit, as the depression took a toll on car production in very late 29 onward. I have seen a number of 1929 std coupes, However they were made only from July through the end of the year, as special coupes were made in the first half of the year.

Yes I followed that when I installed my roof and know what the front trim looks like but on the coupe the roof gutter extends beyond the the rear roof trim so it differs from the tudor. What I do not understand and have not been able to find a close up picture of is how the rear trim fits against the gutter and if there is any trim piece that fits at the rear of the gutter which extends beyond the rear roof trim?

The 1929 Coupe at the Forest Grove Concours D'Elegance where it won 2nd place in it's class and the other just a picture of it. Since that picture, put on white wall tires-I know this type of car should not have white walls, but I like white walls!

Vermin is a June '29, Std Coupe, I guess that's EARLY?? It's set up for the DRUM tail light, if that means anything?? He has NO drip rails, only HIDE-EM welt.

I restored my 1929 standard coupe in 1978. It's all black, with brown check cloth seats. It's very stock and has won many awards over the years. When it was a new restoration, it was a trailer queen, but in the last 10 years I've been driving it on club tours. Driving it is a lot more fun than trailering.

There were three (3) "tips" for the 45-A and 49-A:

A-47278/A-47279: Tip (roof drip moulding) rear; A-52270/A-52271: Tip (roof drip moulding) front; and A-47282/A47283: Tip (roof binding).

If anyone has a copy of the "Automotive Hardware and Trimming Supplies...1928-1938", please post the photo/drawing of these tips on page 121.

I know the one in question (A-47282/A47283: Tip (roof binding) has an "R" in the suffix part of the number where the other two have an "AR".

Don't know if that means anything or not.

Thanks.

Thanks Don, the ones that the suppliers show for the rear do not look like the ones in the above picture. The front match but since the trip rail extends beyond the rear top molding they have a different shape and that is why there is a special trim piece for the rear trim molding that butts up against the rain gutter. Sure would like to see a picture up close of an original restoration that shows the exact detail. Henry's Lady has one of the front but not the rear. I believe that the catalogs are wrong when they say that part fits the coupes. I might check with Bert's to see if they have some originals.

Just discovered that LeBaron and Snyders has the rear tip that I am looking for! Maybe Bert's will have the missing piece!
