I've never seen Cast Iron intakes on 35-36 passenger vehicles, but possibly were a commercial only feature?

Hey Brian,
Well, back a day or so ago , there was a thread discussion about 'baffles' (question by b-nut). One of the responses regarding intakes and baffles was:
'35 and '36 intakes with round holes had baffles. 4" baffles for alum intakes and 5" for cast intakes.... Now if this is so, someone says that there was intakes built..other than aluminum ...for '35/'36 engines. Mabe I took the info wrong, but check it out to see what you think,eh:)

There are two different heights to the fuel pump mount. The cast iron ones are all of the tall variety. Some 36-37 aluminum intakes had the lower mount, however, all these 'smooth' 34 and 35 variants have the taller mounting, which neccessitates using the longer of the two baffle tubes. The shorter tubes can conceivably be used in conjunction with the tall manifold, but the bottom part of the tube will not spigot into the hole in bottom of valley, therefore the intended function is compromised.

The commercial vehicles had cast iron heads and intakes; the passenger vehicles were equipped with aluminum. But I've never seen a 'smooth style' cast iron intake for a 34 or 35, that particular design were all cast in aluminum

Brian,I am on my way to Walts,to grind that nub off that intake, and I will never let anyone take the carb off in the day light.Have a good holiday EPW
