Larger wide 5 wheel queston

I think I heard that Ford made a larger wide 5 wheel. I was hoping to find some taller ones for the rear of my rat rod project. What should I be looking for? Thanks, Jim

Jim,
I'm digging around for some rims to build 16" x 6" wide wide 5 wheels, is
this what you are looking for ?

On a stock 37 Tudor how wide can the rims go? would it be just on the outside, my rims are 4" or must it be balanced 1" each side ? Thanks Zeke

Years ago we would look through the farm junk for the Ford 3/4 ton wheels (91D-1015) that were 16X5" but some, that were from unknown sources were perhaps wider. Most adult rodders of that era were looking for 15"s, probably about tire availability. Now that production cars often have 18" or larger the fantasy retro crowd is going for the larger diameters quoteing milk trucks or other special applications. Not a terrible idea but not common in the historical record. As for the wide fives, they were popular with the circle track guys, citeing the unsprung weight, but really that they were otherwise throwaways. That thrift driven image can be fun if not outright delusional. Have Fun: Fred A

That's the Milk truck and other special applications referred to. There were 18"s as options, unknown if they were factory, dealer or aftermarket, but ones I've seen were smaller bolt circle. Ground clearance was the rumored feature. They have been pretty expensive $500++ and more if wider. Pretty ugly to my eye but.. Always that source that is not aware of the value. Like 15" Merc wheels years ago, now a drag on the market. Good Hunting: Fred A
