King Pins and How Much Play

I took my front end apart over this past weekend and noticed that there was a little bit (not much) of lateral play in my king pins when removing them. My question is, how much play, if any, is acceptable in the king pins, whether it be up and down movement or lateral.

Shouldn't be any up and down as the wedge bolt should stop that. Verrrry little lateral movement. They should be a push fit by hand through the bushings. ken ct.
 
Since it's apart replace the bushings, bearings with shims and felts and see if that tightens them up. The pins may still be good
 
usually the pins are scratched up also. its a simple job to do and i would send them out to get the bushings honed. you can buy the complete kit from the jobbers
