Now that my beloved '38 Ford Conv Cpe has a new Owner... Sob, sob... I got a hitch in my gittup now, but can still hobble around without assistance, so I changed oil & filter on my Grocery Getter truck today, just as if it were my Ford.
You love your wheels, so ya know it's just one of them fun things to do, and anyway, it's a matter of self respect. It didn’t take long, I didn’t make a mess, and I intend to keep on keeping on.

Never lie around thinking of the things you've done. Think of the things your going to do. Tim

Agreed! but for me, some of my 'done things!' still hold special meaning for me... like skiing the untracked back powder bowls of Vail, CO... and that first attempt at landing a Navy jet aboard a USN aircraft carrier... still holds much of the excitement of the day, even though more than some time ago! as for things I am going to do... in my world of seemingly endless projects, I have one I am currently working on. without much further ado, let's just say it is a bit of a restoration project. and like old car restorations... has its fair share of rust and rust outs! lol but... if not to a full restoration, it will be to a full 'back to full service!' as it turns out, the scrounged item, cast off to the curb for the junkman is the baby brother to another item I have had for a long time. and use and is in great shape! I did not realize same mfgr. at first, but now it holds even more esteem for me.

some of the progress I have made is not just do this, do that...

I have to keep thinking about the things I am going to do, to get it to do/be... become what i want it to be. for example, i mite think of 5 ways to do something, then decide what will be best for my situation. such as... this restoration to full service is to cost me $-0-! but, i see now, i mite have to buy me a 5/16ths wooden dowel. mite make one by hand out of oak. oak would be better....

and soon it will be back in full service! :)

pb: "Think of the things your going to do."

and I am already thinking of those things i will do with it! :D

My point was, we call ourselves collector car enthusiasts, or whatever, but some of us don't have the pleasure of working on our own cars for whatever reason. I've always done my own basic service and often much more, lately reduced to just basic service due to age and infirmities, and fully intend to continue performing those basic maintenance services. I don't understand how anyone can be a car guy without puttering in the man cave doing what's right for their cars. If for no other reason, to get away from the little woman for a while? Who, me?

You are absolutely right Alan! Everyone, wives too, need a little space of their own. I found that out when I first retired. There is no sweeter girl than the gai that decided she could stand me for nearly 60 years. She just didn't want me underfoot. I built my small shop when I retired 18 years ago and she has NEVER said that I spend too much time out there. Truly wedded bliss!
