It did work when I put the key in but it has been getting harder and harder to work. I sprayed it with WD40 and now it doesn't work at all???I don't know what to do now.Looks like I am going to half to replace it.Where the best place to get a switch.:(

WD-40 is almost always the worse things for switches and locks. The potmetal used will soak up the liquid and swell the potmetal. Those of us who restore A's know this first hand. Almost impossinble to unswell it. I have atleast 20 locking handles that have swelled or froze up lock cyl's. Rod

I have a 55 mainline and the trunk key was missing.I got on line and ordered a new tumbler and came with 2 new keys. They have lock sets to change all.

WD40 will loosen up all the crud that was in the switch and sounds like it all came loose and gummed it up worst now . Take some compressed air and try blowing the crud out . Use a silicon spray on your KEY ONLY & don't spray into the switch , then move in and out of the switch and try to clean the crud from the key as often as possible . That should get it cleaned out . Also as you try to turn the key to the right , try jiggling the key to help loosen it up .
Also like someone else said the key might just be plain worn out also .
If you need to clean the other locks out , just remember to just spray the lube on the key only .
Hope this helps .

I always use PB blaster whenever my exterior house door gets gummed up. Its not an automotive lock, but the PB Blast frees it up really quickly.

When I got mine, the key had solder built up on the bottom of the key to push the tumblers up enough to get it to work? guys at the lock shop looked at me really funny but used it to cut a few new keys and they work much better the the one I had. I do still have the key just so I can get a chuckle out of it. Take that any way you would like but my key was worn out........
