out plowing

ok not haveing much luck finding one of my own. I am thinking about making one... I have a pic to go by but need some reference measurements.

1. what is the diameter of the material?
2. what is the overall the length of the tool?

Thanks

If you can pry the guide down far enough to get the clip out of its block recess, you really don't need the tool. They come out pretty easy especially if the spring tension is relieved. Do you have mushroom stem valves?

iam working on a 1950 8BA and have a few that the bar would not budge. they are froze in the full open or nearly full open position. i was goint to try to pound the clip out with one of these, then use my KD 918 clamp to pop the valve guide loose.

ive posted this before, there i a tool, a bent type punch, that will go past an open valve and down the valve stem to rest on the top of the valve guide, you then hit it with a heavy hammer , that wil drive the guide down do you can remove the keeper, usually once the guide is moved you can then pry it out the top, read what ol' ron said, once the guide has moved flood the chamber with a penetrent, if you have the mushroom valves and you cant remove the guide either with the pry bar or the punch, use a hot wrench and cut the valve and spring, remove them, then drive the guide out

ive used,

wd-40
vineger
50/50
gentle heat
Liquid Wrench
Screw loose
3-36
p-b-blaster

All the major names.... nothing is making these come loose.

All that is left is a cutoff wheel or a cutting torch...

I just got a few out that were stuck closed by drilling the valve head with a 1/2" carbide drill bit.
Cutoff wheel to remove the stem and spring...mushroom...then drill the head off and drive the guide down and out.

Here is my valve removal tool kit. Ed

Reds Headers has the 917 type tool listed on his site, not sure of the price. It's listed under Flatattack. Zeke
