Just Starting from the SoCal Desert

I don't know much about geography, but Vermin would be worth looking at if Fresno is not too far for you. Any car owned and cared for by Bill would be a quality buy. Plus, he's including a lot of extras. And he can share his encyclopedic memory and great stories!

Hi Michael,

Bill and I have chatted on the back channel a week or so back. I'm was trying to get him to send me some pictures, but he cant seem to get them on the internet. He is right around 250 miles away from me so a 500 mile blind trip is a costly one especially if I come home empty handed. However there is one in Bakersfield I probably could look at at the same time. For trips that far, … I need to bundle a few viewings in each long distance trip.

Regards
Bill

Hello All,

Well it looks like I picked up my girl, … a 1931 Model A Tudor Red / Black.

I'd like to thank everyone for their help and advice, … especially FordBarn user, 28 SC (Tom) for a ton of info I'm still trying to wrap my head around and letting me torture his gears in his Blue Coupe.

I have driven about 15 miles in her today and will put some more on her tomorrow. She seems to be a sweet lil ride but she does have a few small issues. The carburetor could probably use a rebuild, and the engine could use a tune up, and a new set of rubber all around, not immediate but soon. Also the right front drum seems to be a little out of round which makes braking a little fun and exciting. The bottom rubber piece on the window frame to body seal needs to be replaced, it has about 3 inches starting to split from the frame. Oh, … and maybe a Spindle Bolt Kit in the near future as well.

Other than that, she seems to be a winner. Ill post some more pictures tomorrow. Sorry about the Ugly mug in the car shot.

Regards
Bill

Forgot to add this, ...

The Bad, ... The front cut outs on the front fenders seems different from one another. Also the angle from the hood/frame seam to the top of the fender is steeper on the drivers side. Maybe 28-29 on one side and 30-31 on the other?

When you get into your brakes be sure to contact Randy Gross, (714) 292-8660, melmodela@aol.com. I have visited his shop and was very impressed. I have never seen anything bad posted about him, only good. Check him (and any one else you choose to do major work on your car) out in the archives. If your brakes are not "mechanical brakes" please post what you have (or a picture we can use to identify them). For hydraulic brakes the "go to" place is Richard Lacy,(626) 338-2282, earlyv8@aol.com. The nice thing for you is that both of these places are in Southern California.
